There are two options to get started with Dot: Personal and Business. With a Personal Dot, you can set up your profile by selecting preferences in categories like Food, Hobbies, Music, Sports, and Travel. If you opt for a Business Dot, you can promote your business by selecting a category, entering relevant information, and creating customized marketing campaigns.

Participating businesses in Seattle display their QR codes for collection. By scanning these codes, you can record your visits and share them on your newsfeed. Some stores offer discounts for scanning their codes, creating an interactive experience for users while promoting local businesses.

Dot features a personal profile page, a newsfeed for sharing photos and locations, collections to track your experiences, access to friends' profiles, visibility of common interests with connections, the ability to add friends through scanning or online, reminders of past interactions, contact exchange functionality, and the opportunity to receive discounts at partnered stores.
